I know a lot of people have strong sentiments regarding this one. The president's intention to save Social Security and to ascertain that it keeps running for many years to come is good. But the proposed solution is not. It presents a whole lot of problem where the working class is concerned. "Lifting that cap to tax a larger share of income" would be very problematic, considering how many of the people are already having problems on how to stretch their income to provide for basic needs. The president should just learn how to allot government money more appropriately. I am pretty sure there are misappropriations out there and money is spent on lesser important things.
ReplyDeleteI agree with one commenter about the "slight fix" not being slight at all. Then with another commenter about how Obama not having a clue at all. And yet with another commenter about how the government keeps on bailing out bankrupt institutions and not even willing to bail SS. Sigh. Enough said.
ReplyDeleteWhy adjust taxed earnings? Can't the government allot a part of its money to saving the institution?
ReplyDeleteAs always, here comes a president who thinks he knows it all, seen it all and lived through it all. It is apparent that he is enjoying our taxes. There is no easy way to fix the SS funds, unless you call genocide easy. And if a slight fix exists, it should have been done before, not just now. Raising the tax on earnings is going to be felt by the middle to lower class. How about the president and all politicians giving up half of their assets into the SSA? All other alternatives so far have complications.
